I am not a can of soup so please don't label me.
I was not sent by plane, or processed in any factory.
and yet here I sit, so sad and alone
not even the misfits think I belong
to often I find myself drifting away
thinking of all the mind games they play
of whats in and whats out
whats right and whats wrong.
you can't play your own beat
you can't sing your own song
you must be like someone, we don't really care who
be it outcast or jokey the choice is really up to you
that's what they tell us, the labelmakers themselves
as long as you're in a cliche all is well.
but i would rather be a hyper-active freak outcasted by all
then have someone tell me where I'm supposed to belong.
I would rather be an island
or a small boat set out to sea
ready to take on all the waves that try to bully me.
and if push comes to shove i'll even be a mismatched puzzle piece
but I am not a can of soup
so please
don't label me.
